“We were shocked today’s announcement that the Nutrien Civic Centre would be closing on Saturday. Although there has been discussion with the Civic Centre Board regarding the amounts that are required to sustain the facility and with the local governments that provide most of the funding, the closure was not discussed with the Kings Regional Service Commission prior to today’s public announcement.
The Commission will reserve further detailed comment until it has had an opportunity to consult directly with the Civic Centre Board, the owners of the facility, regarding the circumstances that led to this decision and any options that may remain available.
The closure of the Nutrien Civic Centre is an outcome no one wants. The Kings Regional Service Commission remains committed to working alongside the Civic Centre Board, fostering collaboration among all municipal partners, and engaging with the Province of New Brunswick to explore a viable, long-term pathway to stabilize and maintain this vital piece of regional infrastructure.”
