On Wednesday\, August 20\, 2025\, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.\, Leonard’s Gate in Sussex will come alive with stories\, connections\, and opportunities to make a difference. \nThis free\, drop-in event is a chance to: \n\nMeet inspiring volunteers who are strengthening the Kings Region through their time and talents.\nExplore local organizations and learn how you can get involved.\nShare your own experiences and help spark someone else’s volunteering journey.\n\nWhether you’ve been volunteering for years or are just curious about getting started\, you’ll find friendly faces and open doors. \nFor Community Organizations\nIf your group relies on volunteers\, this is a perfect chance to share your story. Bring brochures\, business cards\, or anything that showcases your work – no elaborate displays required. This event is about connection\, not competition\, and about making it easy for community members to learn\, join\, and contribute. \nWe encourage you to invite your current volunteers to attend so they can be recognized\, share their stories\, and connect with peers from other organizations. This event is designed to bring together existing and prospective volunteers\, creating opportunities for networking\, collaboration\, and community pride. DESCRIPTION:The Kings Regional Service Commission is excited to host Beyond the Pantry\, a hands-on cooking workshop designed to make healthy\, delicious meals more accessible to everyone. \nIn this session\, Chef Shane will guide participants in creating a nutritious\, family-friendly meal using fresh produce and common food bank items. All ingredients will be provided – you just bring your curiosity and appetite! \nWhy We’re Hosting This Workshop\nThis event is part of our Community Development mandate under the priority area of food security. Access to healthy\, affordable food is a cornerstone of strong\, thriving communities.
